This month, our COO Melissa Powell writes for Chief Executive,

“If the last two-plus tumultuous years have taught us anything, it’s that we must be able to deftly adapt to change in both our personal and our work lives. And for business leaders dealing with staff working remotely or on a hybrid schedule, emotional intelligence—using empathy and gratitude—can go a long way in building employee satisfaction that results in an organization’s success, even in uncertain times.”

This month, Joel Landau writes in Healthcare Business Today, “What’s Next for Telehealth”

“Just as many of us began working from home at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant number of people also nixed in-person doctors’ appointments in favor of telehealth consultations with their physicians. While virtual care was originally conceived as a low-cost means to avoid expensive emergency room or urgent care visits for basic ailments such as colds, flu, and rashes, during the COVID-19 shutdown, doctors began using telehealth to see patients remotely for a variety of conditions.”

Big Tech’s incursion into healthcare: What does it all mean?

This month, Joel Landau discusses how healthcare technology can humanize medicine in his latest piece in Business Journals Leadership Trust.

“Technology is transforming the healthcare industry, whether through the use of wearable devices that allow healthcare providers to monitor patients’ conditions or the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud platforms to provide healthcare companies with better data analytics.

So-called Big Tech is focusing on innovations in digital health to improve individuals’ health and wellness in a myriad of ways: by preventing disease, allowing patients to monitor and manage chronic conditions — thus tailoring medicine more specific to their needs — and ultimately lowering the cost of providing healthcare. During COVID19-related shutdowns, virtual healthcare, or telehealth, became a highly effective way for individuals to access physicians and other healthcare professionals — and the trend continues.”

How Healthcare Technology Can (Believe it or Not) Humanize Medicine

This month, Joel Landau discusses how healthcare technology can humanize medicine in his latest piece in Newsweek,

“On its face, it admittedly sounds incongruous: Healthcare technology can humanize medical care? But how?

Wouldn’t the opposite be true? Wouldn’t tech’s incursion into this sector make medicine more impersonal? Wouldn’t the use of such things as telehealth platforms, which have become more prevalent during the pandemic, put more distance between the provider and patient than ever before?

Not really. The argument now is that technology allows for an ever greater connection—a connection that is constant and consistent.

Blockchain is making its presence felt in healthcare

In his most recent piece, our Founder and President Joel Landau writes for New York Business Journals,

“Blockchain is, on a far larger scale, a tool that helps to deal with the massive amount of patient data circulating within and among healthcare facilities: How can it be used to a provider’s best advantage? How can it be stored, analyzed, interpreted and shared so that it can ensure the best possible outcomes?

That is an ongoing challenge, as healthcare information systems are notoriously fragmented.”
